John Tatum: Architectural Designer
Tatum is CEO and co-founder of Firefly Communities, the developer of Cloudland Station. Inspired by his admiration of architecture from the colonial era to World War II and by the remodel of his 1920s home in Atlanta, he sold the CFO firm he co-founded and leveraged that experience to grow Cloudland Station. The first house was a vacation cottage, built of stone, for his family.
David Martin: General Contractor
Martin owns D&B Carpentry LLC, a preferred builder at Cloudland Station, where he has completed three houses and has five more under construction. Based in greater Chattanooga, Tennessee, he has been a builder for 19 years. He is also a master carpenter. "I love Craftsman style," Martin says. "It's a specialty that lets you put more of yourself into the job."
Yvonne McFadden: Interior Designer
McFadden, who earned her interior design degree from the Art Institute of Atlanta, has decorated homes and show houses in the South for almost 12 years. In 2010, she founded Yvonne McFadden LLC. Last year, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles selected her as one of its "15 Under 40" professionals. She is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers.
Kate Karam: Landscape Designer
Karam, a Master Gardener and Certified Nursery Professional, is the author of two books and hundreds of magazine articles on gardening and outdoor living. When not helping Monrovia Growers create digital content and editing the company's Plant Savvy newsletter, she toils in her own overgrown backyard plot in Altadena, California.
Chuck Lyle: Project Manager
Lyle is COO and co-founder of Firefly Communities, as well as Firefly Communities' project manager for the TOH Cottage at Cloudland Station. He has managed large tracts of land involving historic buildings.
Joal Henke: Subcontractor Manager
Henke teamed up with D&B Carpentry LLC three years ago. For the cottage, he worked with subcontractors to provide services and products related to construction. He has been active in real estate for 12 years and specializes in working with builders.
Sonny Whitt: Finish Carpenter
Whitt is a freelance carpenter who has earned local renown for his custom furniture, cabinetry, and built-ins. His specialty, seen throughout the cottage, is salvaging beautiful old wood for rustic creations that add character and charm. 423-488-5762
Susan Nowland: Architectural Designer
Nowland is owner of Nowland Design, a Chattanooga-based firm offering drafting and design services to new-home builders in North Georgia and Tennessee. A longstanding member of the American Drafting Design Association, she worked with the TOH team and developer to bring the house to life.
