Insiders' Tour of Michael Andretti's Estate
The racecar driver has landscaped his Lehigh Valley property for maximum outdoor fun
Indy driver Michael Andretti lives in a 14,500-square-foot villa on 25 lush acres with panoramic views of the Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley. He's got a drive and an entryway fit for a Lamborghini.
Wow. The house's architectural diversity is matched only by the number of landscape features. The driveway rings a pond and a garden dripping with bonsai and other miniatures. Cast bronze sculptures abound. The temperate Pennsylvania climate is good for the artwork's patina.
It took four years to build Andretti's landscape. No wonder: that's an awful lot of stone to set. Check out the pavers, the stream walls, the landscape rocks and the accent pebbles.
From his elevated, covered patio (with nice beadboard ceiling), Andretti can watch the rain come in across the Valley. He can also fire up that bright red Weber.
What would a yard be without a six-hole golf course?
Several streams, a large tiered pool area, even birdbaths. There's lots of water on Andretti's property. Clearly, he likes the wet stuff.
Andretti's yard is as tiered as the Mongolian steppes. Erosion and run-off can be a problem with a design like this. Any pointers for the landscapers? Get in on the chat at the Athlete HomeOwners Forum.

Nice yard, and he seems like a nice guy. But, then again, he didn't let us in the front door...
