About the House
Designed by Connecticut’s celebrated Jamieson Architects, and built by the gifted craftsmen of The Greyrock Companies, this modern farmhouse features a grand, vaulted great room that looks out across Long Island Sound; a chef’s kitchen and butler’s pantry; a covered porch and patio outfitted with an outdoor kitchen, plunge pool, firepit, and personal putting green; a spacious ground-floor master suite; two additional bedrooms and baths; a bunkroom; and three-car garage.
Builder Jerry Ephrine described the vision behind the project: “I had a vision of an old New England barn that looked like it had been added on to and modernized over time.” To make the most of the narrow hillside lot overlooking Shore Haven Golf Club and Long Island Sound, the team turned the entry to the side and oriented the main living spaces, master bedroom, and outdoor entertaining areas toward the prime views.
Sandy Efrain, designer and now homeowner of the Idea House, shared that after nearly 40 years of residential construction in Fairfield County—and 13 moves—she and her husband were so thrilled with the result that they decided to make it their forever home. “We design and build every home as if we will live there,” she said. “And we were so thrilled with the way this one came out. We decided to make it our forever home right here.”
