Wood Floors with no subfloor

We live in a 60 year old home with wood plank floors (home is elevated about 2 feet above ground). However, there is no subfloor, only the planks separate us from the ground. Does anyone have any ideas on how to install a subfloor under the wood plank flooring? We've been told that there is no way to remove the planks without damage.

Please help.

I'll ask the question .... why do you want a subfloor under he planks? :)

Peace of mind - We want to remodel and I think we need a subfloor. Any thoughts on why we should not put one in?

It will be tricky removing those floor boards without damaging some ( at least ) ..... however if you are very patient and take your time you might be able to salvage most ....depends.

Here is a thread that also discusses removing floor planks :

Thanks for the information. Is there anyway to go under the home and use the crawl space to install plywood under the floor and attach to the floor joists?

I LOVE the pine floors and would rather not cover them with new wood.

I still don't understand why you want to go through the effort. I have 150 year old hardwood floors with no sub floor. So far no problems.
