Wisteria - needs support

A few years ago we had planted an Oak tree in hopes of replacing a Blue Spruce that has been on the south-east corner of our house for more than 30 years. The Blue Spruce will soon need to be removed, as it has grown too large for the space. The Oak grew and prospered for the first 3 years. Then, without any apparent reason, it started to die off and within a 12 month period it was dead. Now it is a post that reaches up about 15 - 18 feet.

We then decided that a Wisteria would be attractive and once large enough provide some shade to front of the house. We purchased a small Wisteria and planted one near the remains of the Oak. The Wisteria has done well over the past 3 years, and now needs more to support it than the remains of the Oak (or so we would believe). Do you have any suggestions? Perhaps a pergola?
