window condensation ?

i have 200 series anderson windows that are 5 years old, the 1st floor windows are fine (brick exterior), but the second floor (siding exterior) windows condensate on the interiors all the time. the house is a cape cod with oil fired hot water convector heat. the windows all appear fine and the moisture is on the insides- the windows are stained interiors and are developing black spots from all the condensation..... how to stop this and what is it from????

Re: window condensation ?

Are the hot water radiators located directly under the windows on the second floor? The reason for the condensation is that the surface temperature of the glass is below the dew point for the air in the room.

To solve the problem, you have to either lower the humidity in the room or raise the surface temperature of the glass. Locating the radiators under the window usually helps keep the surface temperature of the glass higher.

yes ther are windows with convectors under them and windows without convectors- both seem to have the issue (with or without). the second floor are the only issues though
