I'm having what seems to be a unique problem because I can't find anything talking about it on the rest of the web!
I went to change the filter on our whole house filter this morning and the filter won't come out of the housing. I removed the housing like I normally do (relieve pressure, unscrew, etc.) and when I went to slide the filter out, it wouldn't budge from the bottom where it sets over the plastic guides. I've been trying to a while to pull it out with pliers, had my wife help, anything I could think of, but nothing is helping. As of right now, the top of the filter has ripped off because of the torque we've applied trying to remove it.
The problem right now is that we don't have any bypass system and our well water is extremely concentrated with iron, so we can't just go without the filter without destroying our water softener.
Any thoughts on how to remove the filter from within the housing?
