Re: What's on your must-do list in the spring?

I to have the long list of things to get ready for summer every spring. Clean out gutters and uncover the roses as the sun gets stronger, when the ground firms, rake and re-seed where needed, start to prep the garden by turning the soil and the compost.

But I turn my attention to something inside this house too. This year I am kicking around the idea of re-doing the kitchen ceiling. Tearn down and new. And I have my eye on a new light for the kitchen nook so it would all come together perfect. And then I can enjoy summer.

Never a dull momenent when you have a house.:)

Re: What's on your must-do list in the spring?

First I need to win the lottery, then I need to resurface the concrete steps, paint the porch, lay tile on the steps face, finish a brick border for my garden, remulch, figure out how to repair my crumbling foundation, finish tearing up the rest of the concrete on my back patio, lay new pavers and prepare the new garden beds, move my dog kennel and grow some new grass where it used to be, figure out how to pay for new storm windows, have an outdoor outlet installed, replace the jambs on all three exterior entry doors, have glass block windows installed and get a new roof and gutters! Oh and have the trees near my house trimmed!

First live to see another spring.

Jump into the 1000s of items to do on my On going renovation.

But also start looking for some Older people that need some help with maintenance and giving them what they need help with no cost to them.

Re: What's on your must-do list in the spring?

We're retirees on a fixed budget! On Cape Cod it's a race between warmer temperatures in mid-April/early May and the beginning of pollen season, so our Spring must-do list includes:
-New front door installation (with help)
-Stain and weather-proof the deck before putting out container gardens
-Install a visual barrier of bird-friendly berry bushes between our home and our neighbors' yards
-Add one more raised bed for our vegetable garden behind our garden shed (near the bush barrier)
-Install rock step-way down the hill from the deck where we've begun a rock garden.

The front of my house is very bland and I wanted to do something to make my house look special.

That is my spring project.

I really want to get a couple of rain barrels set up along side the barn. With a few gutters I could make use of hundreds of gallons of spring rain this year and direct it right to the rain barrels and have a guilt free conscience as I water all those beautiful vegetables and flowers. :)

What do you like to do around the house in March (perhaps in prep for the warmer weather or just to celebrate the end of the cold)? Your answer may get featured in our issue's Checklist section (along with your name and possibly your photo). Please ask friends and family to send suggestions too. Thanks!!

We hope to be done with our complete remodel [old rental, redid everything from the floor up] and by spring we will start on putting in a new lawn and paver patio with a fire pit.
Retired builder - working for wife now. When she gets done I can remodel my barn.
