what does this mean?

i read on an ibew job board from chicago that they were looking for people and preferred them to be flatters. what is a flatter?

Those are the guys that walk around the job site patting the union guys on the back and telling them what a good job they're doing. :p;):D

Hey , I knew that . BTW , I did ask the Steward and he didn't know . It's not a term used in our craft ( Electric Utility ) .

Yeah , I figured it was some kind of wiring crew , just not a term used around here .

BTW Yuk , that Chicago reference was what I needed to confirm my suspicion . ;)

I do enjoy all of the jabs on this board. I am a journeyman electrician doing mostly rersidential for the past 5 years. I like to ask simple (sometimes stupid) questions to see how people from other areas of the country do and explain things. I dont want people to mistake my curiosity for lack of knowledge or know-how.

I've been in the trade for over 30 years and had no idea what it meant either.

Hey though, If you're an electrician and like hanging out with other electricians take a look at this site. We have a lot of fun, learn a lot and don't take it "too" seriously. (If anyone gets out of line I have the ability to squish them like a bug. :D )

I'm on board with all that....It is fun learning how other areas of the good olde USA does things...
