I have one area of duct work in my crawl space that was replaced in August of 2016 because it was wet. I just so happen to notice a wet spot on the ground under the same duct work and when I pushed on the duct a stream of water came out. It feels pretty heavy. Our HVAC guy came out and looked at it and wants to put some instant sealer in all of our caps (where the registers are) and then replace the wet duct....for about $1,000.00. We live in South Carolina and it is cold. When this happened in August I thought that there was a small air leak and the water was condensation from the heat, but I am perplexed why this is happening again. Plus I don't think I need to seal all of the caps because this is only happening in one area.
Any thoughts or experience with this issue - would be greatly appreciated. The HVAC guy is coming back out on Wednesday to show me exactly what he plans to do to permentantly fix this problem.
