Weeds in cracks

Does anyone know the best way to deal with weeds in cracks? I've weedeated & sprayed, but I would like to get rid of them permanently, especially there appears to be a lot of dirt in the cracks where the weeds grow.

Is this for your driveway or what? If between concrete section of your driveway, you might try putting some of that black tar that they use sometimes to seal between sections. It allows for movement and stays somewhat flexible but would fill the gap.

It's actually for a medical center that I mowed & weedeated at. There were weeds in the cracks around the building, around the islands in the parking lot, and several other cracks in the parking lot (as well as a few behind the building). I was wondering if wintertime would be the best time to use the black tar you mentioned. How much does black tar cost?

spray with roundup and then after it dies spray with surflan which is a preemergence surface applied product. so it stops other plants from coming up

Agree with above. I was thinking of that stuff that is almost like a mixture of asphalt and some type of fiber that you can tuck into the joints. For this, I would start out with something easy and not as laborsome. There are quite a few spray products that are intended to stop any plant growth as havanagranite mentioned. Start there.

So after spraying with Roundup & Surflan, do I fill in the cracks with black tar, or do I use something else?

you wouldn't need to do anything else for quite a while. if you are doing lawn care and this is part of your route just add these two products to your truck. have seperate marked sprayers for the roundup and surflan so that you don't waste product. or if you are doing a regular maintence just use the roundup and spray it every two weeks. black tar on concrete won't look that good from my opinion.
