wavy subfloor fix??

so the floor in my 1929 balloon frame colonial upstairs was shot but the subfloor is not exactly flat. I want to install a new floor and would like to use a laminate wood or engineered wood floor but I dont think they are all that forgiving of a warped subfloor. What can I level with (i cant use self level concrete) that wont add too much weight or what can I put down that will tolerate the warped floor? I see discrepancies of about an inch kinda like a soup bowl in a 16 to 20 sq foot area

any ideas?

Question, are you trying to fix an out of level floor or are you trying to fix an uneven/wavy floor?

As far as unlevel goes, I don't think I'd worry too much about that. As far as uneven goes, you could easily fill the low spots with floor leveling compound.

My floor is wavy and uneven. Will the leveling compound help with that?

Leveling compound can be used to fill in the hollows easily enough.
