Water Softener on a Slab..

My house is a raised ranch on a slab in the northeast. Our water is very hard and we have a water softner which was here when we bought the house three years ago. The problem i see with it is that it backwashes through the side of the house out a water spigot. We run a hose from there down into the woods in the warmer months. That's ok...but in the winter it's a pain because it freezes up. My old house had the softener drain into a dry well, which is fine if you are going out through the foundation and under the Frost level. But since I'm on a slab, I'm not sure what to do. I'm thinking of moving the faucet/backwash exit down to about 3" off the ground and then putting it into the ground into a dry well? I would like to know another way to do it. I can't tie into my plumbing system because I don't have any close pipes and i don't want that going into my septic system.

Suggestings welcome.
