Water pressure
clair

 About a year ago we had to replace the pump on our well and since then we have been having trouble with our water pressure. Now when we are taking a shower and someone turns on the water anywhere in the house the pressure in the shower goes to a small drip and it is very hot water, we can not even flush the toliet downstairs if someone is in the shower. A friend said it could be the filter in our water softner.I am not sure what the problem is only that the pressure was not always this bad.Can you give me some suggestions?

Re: Water pressure

Check your expansion tank for pressure in the bladder.Does the system hold pressure when everthing ,sinks, etc is off.If not then it could be the foot valve at the pump head.Thats the one way check valve.Sometimes they get rocks or debris that hold it open and the water flows back down into the well until the pump turns back on.

I would also see how often the pump is coming on and off and check to make sure that the pressure valve is keeping its pressure when the water is off inside the house. If it isn't chances are you have a leak somewhere. I had a similiar problem a few months ago and it turned out I had a 3" gash in the black poly line that went into the well head. My electric bill has since been cut in half.
