Water issue in "Finished" attached garage

Hello, Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to fix the following problem: Every time it rains, our finished garage (carpeted) gets soaking wet! It's horrible! The carpet is soaked and it smells awful. My husband is constantly going to Home Depot to rent industrial fans to dry the carpet (I'm concerned about mold) . Someone told me that because this is actually a " garage" that's where the run off water goes. Is this true or is there a greater problem; can it be fixed some how ? We live in a center unit townhouse in VA. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I guess you have to figure out where the water is coming from and correct the problem.

Your carpet is kaputt, meaning too many times got soaked and dried. Pull it out and leave the floor uncovered until you solve your problem.

You give us no information to even guess why the garage gets flooded. Try calling general contractors and have them inspect the outside, drains, slopes or whatever else might be causing the perpetual floods.

Thank you. My neighbor said they think its coming from the street behind us when it rains heavily (they have the same issue); that street floods terribly. My neighbor said that the townhomes are built on a slope to allow for the water to drain thru the garage when the drains are over loaded. But, I'll check with a contractor as advised. Thanks again!

You might want to consider tile and throw rugs for the floor.
