Water Heaters

I recently replaced my 40 gallon water heater and I wanted to go to a tankless electric water heater, but was talked out of it by the plumber.  He told me the water quality here in SW Florida is so bad at eating away metals it wouldn't be worth it.  The water quality is bad, but...  Was he right, or was I sold a bill of goods?

Re: Water Heaters

You would have never been satisfied with an Electric tankless. They just cannot create enough heat to satisfy the load. I cannot agree/disagree with that statement from the plumber, he is there and I am not. You may test your water to see exactly what is in it. You may also install the proper filter(s) as to remove any unwanted minerals/deposits/dirt before it goes into any device in your water supply system. That way the water coming in to the system will be cleaner, with less minerals. You can then put back the minerals that are needed.
