washing machine pump out to drain

I have to replace my washing machine. The old one is six inchs off the floor on cement blocks.I think this was because the washer pump didn't have enough power or head to pump up to the drain pipe which is forty five inchs above the floor. There is no drain pipe at floor level.Do I have to put the new washer on blocks or will the newer one have enough power or head to pump out to the pipe that is forty five inchs off the floor? How do I fix this drain problem, can it be done?

We can't tell you how good of a washer you're going to buy. There are some models that will pump 9 or 10 feet. Check the specification / installation book before you buy.

I'd also add a check valve to the line heading upwards. Don't depend on the check valve that comes on the washer alone to do all the work of keeping the water from back flowing.

Most drains for washing machines are mounted at around 42" high.
I'm sure most washers sold for residential use can handle a 45" high drain. I don't think that those blocks are needed.

I think the block are flooding insurance.
