Want to remove utility sink

We have an old utility sink in our (main floor) laundry room and we'd like to remove it to install a cabinet instead. Question -- where will the washing machine drain into, if we no longer have the sink? We have septic, and a sump pump in basement. Does this kind of job require a plumber? Just wanting to understand the logistics. Thanks. :)

The drain is still there so install a stand pipe hooked to the drain. If it is feeding into the septic make sure you use septic safe laundry detergent.
