Wall in Log Home checking

I recently bought a Log Home in Central Florida. The logs are checking; some have cracks about 3/8 inch wide and 1.5 inch deep. I am looking for advise on best way to fill cracks and reduce further crasks.

Re: Wall in Log Home checking

Logs check for all sorts of reasons and the best thing that you can do is (1) do not fill them with anything, as all caulks eventually shrink and create a place for rot to start behind them (2) blow the dirt and debris out of the cracks/checks with compressed air (3) buy a borate surface treatment or preservative (eg. Timbor) and apply that in the check/crack. Repeat this about every third year. You and your cabin will have years of enjoyment together if you do these things.
