I am trying to install a wall hung toilet in place of a regular toilet in my basement. The drain in the concrete floor is made of 4" lead pipe. On top a brass flange and a wax gasket. I'm trying to install a toilet from Geberit with the carrier system. It comes with a 90 degree 3" DWV waste pipe (plastic). My question how do I connect the plastic part with the piece in the floor.
I am from Switzerland and used to be a plumber there many years ago. We do not use wax gaskets and flanges. In Switzerland at the time I would use a special plastic joint that goes around the plastic pipe and inside the lead one. Or in case of old house like this one with lead we would seal it with hemp and a ciment joint.
Could you tell me what is the proper way to do this here.
