My husband ran across waffle headed nails in renovating our old garage. Does anyone know when they were in use or any history of them?
Framer's hammers had a waffle head design on the head of there hammers to grip the nails. The design was often imprinted on the nail head after being struck by the hammer.
Cement-coated Sinkers have always had waffle/hashed heads. I think the coating would make them too slick to drive otherwise.
most stainless steel hand nails also have this pattern. their mainly used for prepainted wood siding. i use this type of nail made by simpson
