Vinyl tile off my hardwoods

I would like to refinish my hardwood floors. There currently is self stick vinyl tiles down but whoever previously installed them also used some sort of glue to glue them down. Whats the best way to try and strip off the adhesive they used to glue these tiles down so I can refinish the floor?

Re: Vinyl tile off my hardwoods

Just came across your thread, I have exactly the same issue in my 1927 colonial- some fool glued vinyl tile down over the oak in my hallway- I'm going to rip it off with a spade and then probably get a floor refinisher to come in and sand down the glue, etc. How did you make out?
