vinyl jamb liner replacement for wood sash

My house was built in 1930 it still has the original wood double hung weighted sash windows. However, over the years metal and vinyl jamb liners have been added (the weights are still active with the metal liners but are not with the vinyl liners). I broke one of the vinyl liners and I can't seem to find a place that sells them. Do you have any suggestions? I have exhausted all local hardware and lumber yard possibilities. I have been looking online but it appears that my only option is to completely replace the sash or have it retro fitted. Any suggestions?

COuld you post a picture of the liner? Try and get a few from different angles with measurements. Then I might be able to help.

Hi,

You may want to try this company:

I need the same item and will be giving them a try.

Good luck.

I just found these: http://jrproductsinc.com/shop/pc/viewCategories.asp?pageStyle=h&ProdSort=0&page=2&idCategory=24. I have not tried them, but I need something for my 42 drafty 84" tall windows!

Hi Ali,

Which one worked for you? What was the approx cost of each?

I bought a replacement jamb liner that included both an inner spring and the vinyl liner from a company in New England. However, at $99/side, and you have to disassemble and route all the windows, it is only a suitable solution for a one-off repair, not for every window in the house, as I am doing.

As I have gotten all the counterweights functional again, I am leaning towards only using the vinyl jamb liner, so if you have any feedback on the installation and functionality of this in particular, please let me know.

Thanks!

Lowes.com carries "Ply Gem Windows Vinyl Balance Kit". Not sure if Home Depot carries similar product; I didn't find it at HomeDepot.com.

I found those on the web site. But when I went to Lowes to eyeball them, no one knew what I was talking about.
They are listed on the site in various lengths, can they be cut to size?
