Vinyl J Channel......... Do I need weep holes?
wminer

My wife and I are in the final stages of building our house. One of the many projects we decided to complete ourselves was siding. It just occurred to me that I never drilled weep holes in the bottom pieces of J channel where. Some of the pieces are pitched to carry the roof line, grade slope etc. However some pieces are horizontal. My question is: Do I need to (or should I) drill weep holes? And if so……. What is the best way to do this without removing the vinyl?

Thanks In Advance!!!

You can drill 3/16" holes at the bottom of the channels. Be careful not to damage the sidings.

Keep in mind that these holes will only be effective if they are not blocked by leaves and other junk.

I would say that weep holes are unnecessary the ends of J channel are not sealed.
