Vinyl boards, planking

I am in the priocess of residing my house with vinyl siding.  At age 55 and with a three story house, i'm getting to the point of not wanting to climb many more ladders or renting more lifts in the future to paint areas that the siding won't cover.  My question for Tommy is what is his opinion of vinyl boards, such as 1x6s as a replacement for vertical and horizontal boards on a 110-year-old house?

No one from This Old House is on this forum.

I also have an old house, and I specialize in restoring old homes and structures. I would never cover any house in vinyl siding. You cannot imagine the amount of moisture that stays behind the siding and rots the clap boards.
