Vintage lighting vs. reproduction lighting

Is it just me or does almost all of the reproduction light fixtures out there (vintage inspired, vintage appeal, period look, period appropiate, etc etc) look like reproductions and out of place in most vintage remodels? Why not use the real thing, vintage lighting?

Re: Vintage lighting vs. reproduction lighting

Reproductions are used because most people don't feel confident enough or have a local shop where they can get them rewired for safe use. It is also difficult to find matching vintage fixtures.

The National Electrical Code also throws this little wrench in the works.

"410.6 Listing Required. All luminaires and lampholders
shall be listed."

That will be really tough to do with old and even old and rebuilt fixtures.

I am in the process of installing a bunch of custom built fixtures which were not purchased or furnished by me. When they were delivered the first thing I checked for was the listing because I know it will come up at inspection time.

It is of interest to me because I have built some custom fixtures over the years and would like to have it as a side line in the future.
