Hello everyone,
I have a small section of stained grout that I can't seem to clean no matter what. I have tried uploading pictures, but I can't figure that out either, I'll try to describe as best as possible. I am a decent DIY'r, but this has be stumped.
The grout is on some wall tile in the kitchen, above the stove. The section that is stained is about a 5" vertical section, beginning from the very top. There is not a border tile on the top, the grout just goes up to the bottom of my kitchen cabinets.
The grout is a light sand color. The stained has turned much darker.
I have tried baking soda and vinegar, lemon juice, and some Tile Guard brand grout cleaner. I have tried rubbing it on, rubbing it in, scrubbing it in, spraying it on and taping it to keep it wet, and all with no success.
I will try to get some pics up soon.
Thank you for taking the time to read and reply.
Why not dig out the old grout and install new?
Thank you Houston, I have considered doing that. I have just never run into a stain that couldn't be cleaned and I find myself caught up in a solution to clean it, not replace it. Unless someone has an idea I haven't tried yet, I think I'm going to end up doing what you recommend. I thought there must be something out there I haven't heard about. I would like to know in case I ran into this problem in the future and didn't have matching grout.
Thanks again
Have you tried using a steam cleaner?
I've read that the hot steam will bring the dirt up to the surface and be easily wipeable.
Unfortunately, I can't speak to that method myself as we were able to clean our grout using bleach.
Good idea. I don't have one myself, but might be able to get my hands on one so I can give it a try. I am still unable to upload photos. Not sure why, as I believe I have met the photo requirements for TOH.
I've been here a while and I can't upload no steenken pictures either
