Touching up dings and scratches in woodwork

Our victorian home has fabulous woodwork. However it has gouges and dings in a lot of the woodwork and doors. I have tried Old English scratch cover up and Restore a Finish but neither one covers it up. Am I going to have to refinish it all?

Try getting the closest match stain at your local paint store or home store. Is the woodwork touch up not going dark enough? If so, you might have to open the grain a bit with fine sandpaper. It is also possible that a home as old as ours might have used a dye stain, rather that an oil based penetrating stain. Dye stains can usually be found in wood working stores. They are not commonly found in paint stores or home owners stores.
