One aspect of having access to so much material through the web site is going back to the beginning of TOH and watching old episodes. Back in the Bob Vila days the show was much simpler and more about sweat equity. For many seasons it was Bob Vila and Norm Abrams. Richard Trethewey would make appearances as well. But, no Tom Silva or Roger Cook. Why? Norm is clearly a capable builder in his own right, so why did he sort of step back in the shadows of the show? Could it have been because of time constraints of The New Yankee Workshop? Another observation I've made since watching many of the beginning seasons with Bob Vila is just how little he actually knew about construction.
