Getting Ready

Looking for simple, inexpensive ideas on creating storage space for "essentials" in very small 5.5'x7' bathroom. It only has a regular-size medicine cabinet.

Look at storage cabinets or rack systems that can go over the toilet. There are a lot of very attractive choices.

Hi recessing into a wall shelving is nice way to add storage and not take up room in the room. Can be medicine cabinet size or floor to ceiling. any where in between. Be sure not to install it on an exterior wall of the home.

If there's a vanity cabinet under the sink, install a helper shelf on top of the vanity bottom. It's just a shelf that rests on supports, say 6 or 8 inches above the existing vanity bottom.

Wire grids offer functional and versatile storage. You can decoratively store extra towels in baskets or hang them on hooks from the grids.

For medicines and other unsightly small bottles, mount small baskets to the inside of the vanity doors. Also under the vanity... The space is often too tall and wasted space can be claimed simply by installing a narrow shelf, front to back on the side wall of the inside of the vanity. So you can store shorter bottles on the shelf and taller cleaning bottles under the shelf.
