Tilling shower ceiling

Hey Everyone,

The shower in one of our bathrooms is a fiberglass triangle insert that runs about 5 1/2 feet tall, the problem is the sloping drywall above the insert has suffered water damage due to steam/ water build up. (the insert stands out about an inch from the wall, leaving a nice shelf that collects water) I thought the best way to deal with this problem would be to tile the ceiling and side wall. Is this a good idea?? Would this address the problem??? My husband thinks I'm just trying to find ways to spend money, but isn't it better to fix the problem rather than re-plastering every year?? Any and all advice welcome. thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Tilling shower ceiling

I have done this in my house just not the ceiling for the exact same reason. I have a builder that does this on all of his new houses and it looks very nice.

Re: Tilling shower ceiling

sounds like a good idea to me, put up some hardi backer first.

I showed your responses to my husband and he finally has agreed to my idea, thanks for your input.:)
