Tankless Water Heaters

We're buying a new home where the gas powered air handler is in the house and the electric 55 gallon hot water heater is in the garage. A previous experience with electric hot water heater convinced me they're not the way to go so I'm thinking about a gas powered tankless water heater in the garage. Would appreciate any opinions regarding these units and what brands should I consider.

Re: Tankless Water Heaters

I put one in my home that I'm remodeling and my parents have one in their home. They provide plenty of hot water and only come one when needed so there is no wasted energy heating water that is not used all day when no one is home. Rinnai is the brand we have. There are many others out there Reeme, Takagi, Bosch, Noritz, etc but I don't have any experience with them.

Sabo: Thanx for the information. Are the heaters you mention gas fired or electric?
