I live in Northern Wisconsin. We just bought a house and the hot water heater should be replaced sometime in the near future. I'm considering converting to a LP Tankless hot water heater. The house is a tri-level and the mechanicals (furnace and hot water heater) are located in the crawl space under the ground level floor. Can anyone tell me if its even possible to install a tankless heater in a crawl space? I swear I read somewhere that you need to install it in an area with 8' ceiling for proper amount of air or something. The other thing that concerns me is I've read some reviews that the tankless water heaters fail in the colder northern climates. Any advice or experience with these units will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
