Tainted water

I have an odd taste from my house water taps.  Even my RO water tastes bad.  I have been told this is due to a bacterial contamination.  My city water is fine, other places I go the water smells and tastes fine.  My home is 15 years old and has pvc pipes and Perrin and Rowe fixtures.  Any ideas why this would be the case and is there any type of fix out there?

Pamela,

Does the water taste bad before entering the Reverse Osmosis filters? There should be a by-pass line with a valve on it so that you can test the water on occasion. Keep going back out toward the water meter until you find the culprit.

I put a filter can on my by-pass line so that I could put cleaners into the system and flush if necessary. Do you have this? Have you drained some water from your hot water tank to see if it has a stronger oder/taste? Have you removed all the strainers from all faucets to clean them? Have you cleaned the filter in your dishwasher? Have you tested the water to see what is really causing the issue? Test the water and the results may tell you exactly where the issue is. Have you changed all the filters in your reverse osmosis system?
