surface water runoff-front yard

I am told that I need to have the front yard regraded and put in a bioretention cell and a rain garden. Does anyone know if this is the best solution or a permanent solution to terrible runoff? How do you keep the costs down?::confused:lstamus

Re: surface water runoff-front yard

It is the best solution IMO...It may cost more than you want to spend right now, but it is worth it in the long run, since you will be paying for repairs anyway.

Re: surface water runoff-front yard

You might just start with regrading around the house to keep water away from the house. A rain garden wouldn't hurt, either. Don't forget to take full advantage of your gutters, especially if you have clay pipes taking gutter water to the street or storm drains. If that doesn't work, you might consider more costly approaches, like the biosphere..biocell...or whatever it's called.
