it's always nice to know the Greek term. Of course, we're all more familiar with the GEEK term of "that thingy that is under the do-dad that supports the chinga-madero", which of course, translates to plinth block. ;):D

I forgot to mention you can get the plinths in trouble-free aluminum castings, they of course never rot and more importantly they don't make a wood/wood sandwich where the damp is prone to linger.
