Sump Pump Install

I have an older home built in 1979 that has no pit. It does have two 10" square plates on the floor. Both have 5" pipes in them. In one hole the pipe is at a 45 degree angle, in the other hole the pipe is straight up and down. I notice that when I removed the cap from the one that is at a 45 degree angle, I can smell sewage. I am assuming that this runs directly to the city sewer. Now with that said does it matter where in your basement you install a sump pump?

Re: Sump Pump Install

Not really sure of your intended application.

Heres one method of installing one near and plumbed to the existing floor drain.... depending on your local building codes .

Hope this helps. :)
