Stripping Exterior Paint with Power Washer

Just watched This Old House redoing a 1904 brownstone in Brooklyn. Builder had applied a paint stripper to old brick in back and was removing with a power washer. What kind of remover would I need to buy to have this kind of success?

Re: Stripping Exterior Paint with Power Washer

Paint stripper is very expensive and it will never remove all the paint from the brickwork even with a power washer. If you are removing paint from wood a mechanical device like a Paint Shaver or a heat plate is the only economical and fast way to get the job done. Careful with any heating device as you can start your house on fire. Always keep a small water sprayer ready at hand to prespray cracks and cool down the siding after heating the paint off.
