Stripping chandeliers

My Mother painted the chandeliers in the house when the antiquing phase was a craze in the 70"s. I want to strip them but they are very intricate in design. Can I get some suggestions and help on what products and tools to use? Thank you.

Why can't you just repaint them without stripping?

A trick that I've heard renovators use to strip paint off of metal parts is to soak them in hot soapy water for several hours. A crock pot is recommended.

Personally I use paint stripper applied with a paint brush. Wipe off as much of the loosened paint as possible with a rag and then scrub with a tooth brush dipped in stripper.
