Solid floor vent covers

Hi,

We recently had our old FHA system replaced with hydronic panels. Now I have a lot of unused floor vent holes in every room in the house. And they have the old grates on them. I'd like to keep the dust and debris from collecting in these old disused vent holes and switch out the grates for solid covers of brass.

But I cannot find any. Do they even exist? Google searches are challenging as they return the same results over and over: places that sell what I already have!

Any leads on what I need?

Just curious: why would you want to highlight the now non-functional wooden grates with brass grates? If anything, I would think you would want to have them plugged with similar flooring and stained to match the flooring.

Brass plate cut to size http://www.cut2sizemetals.com/brass/plate/bpl/?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Brass_Plate

Door kick plates 8 sizes http://houseofantiquehardware.com/Polished-Brass-Kick-Plate

But as ordjen asks, why not patch the floor with matching wood rather than accenting the unused vents?

Oh, and by the way, it would probably be cheaper to hire a carpenter and do the job right rather than buying brass plate.

The house is from 1847. The floors are old, wide, deep orange pine. The grain pattern of any patch would be very different. I don't have the skills to make an acceptable patch.

As for hiring a carpenter, for this to be an acceptable wood patch it needs to be at the level of finish carpentry, not just your average cut and stuff job. That's not cheap.

I'd rather cover them with a brass plate that I can patina to blend with hue of the floor - I have those skills. And we have lived with shitty store bought metal grates for 14 years. This would be a significant visual improvement.

Thanks for the leads,

Mark
