Smelly water

Hi out there. We have recently installed a new pressure tank and hot water tank. We are on a 300 foot well. Since the installation the water has a chemical smell, not a sulfur smell, more like a diesel smell. The smell is there immediately when I fill a glass and then 2 seconds later is disappears. The water tastes fine, there doesn't seem to be a chemical taste just that smell at the beginning of drawing the water. It is in both the hot and cold water and when I run the water in a smaller sink the smell is worse than in the larger sink in the kitchen. Could there be a defect in the pressure tank. We purchased the Challenger Flexoon Industries pressure tank 6 years ago and it sat in the basement that long before we installed it as the old one was still working but had been in for 32 years. The old one finally went out after 38 years. The hot water tank went out at the same time that the pressure tank went out. The new hot water tank is from Home Depot and seems to be working fine. Any answers out there as to what we should do? Thank you for your response.

Re: Smelly water

A wild guess here: It could be some chemical in the tank, that after sitting for so long, emitting this smell when water first flows by.

Did you talk to the installer (if you hired one) or the manufacturer?
