I just discovered a small leak in a Steam Pipe leading up to the radiator in my master bedroom. The only catch is the leak appears to be between the 1st and 2nd floor... Any suggestions on a repair without costing me an arm and a leg.
You'll be replacing pipes and fittings here so it won't be cheap or easy. And as you do that you're likely to find even more pipes and fittings in similar condition. I wish I had better news but I won't sugar-coat it. I'd be looking for a local HVAC contractor to see what's going to be needed then follow up from there.
Piping is one of the major banes of old houses but once re-done you're good for the next hundred years or so ;)
