Sloping floors

I would like to replace my carpet with laminate flooring but have a substantial slope of approximately 1 3/4 inches from one end to the other. I need an inexpensive way to do this. I'm not interested in lifting the house - the foundation had already been re-done prior to me buying the house. I thought about somehow using different thicknesses of subfloor and someone else suggested cutting slopes into 2x4s. Does anyone have any suggestions?
