Sistering joists for one room

I am in the process of remodeling my bathroom in my 1890 home, and I have come to realize that the floor is more uneven than I originally thought.

I would like to run sister joists, but I cannot run them the whole length of the original joist as it goes into other rooms. Can I run sister joist just the length of the room- about 6ft? There are no structural issues just settling.

Best, Rich

Re: Sistering joists for one room

I have the same question.

There's a hardwood floor in my home in need of replacement. The floor itself - while flat - is significantly sloped. The joists themselves are structurally sound. I am thinking about putting shims on top of the existing joists to level out the subfloor it a bit. The goal is not to make it completely level (probably too difficult). Just want it level enough where it isn't totally an issue.

Has anyone ever tried something like this?
