Shower/Tub valve selection

I am upgrading an existing 1/2 bath to a full bath, adding a tub/shower combination in mountain cabin in so. California. I am looking for recommendations for a shower/tub valve. Nothing fancy, just bullet proof reliability. I prefere a major brand such as Moen, Delta etc., but don't want to spend much past $120, it is just a cabin, but does get heavy regular use by the family. Any suggestions?

Re: Shower/Tub valve selection

Any of the Moen single handle ones will last a lifetime. Get the tub spout with the pull down water diverter.

Re: Shower/Tub valve selection

Thanks Houston. I'll see what Moen selections the two Big Box stores have in my area.

Re: Shower/Tub valve selection

For your use I would stay away from Moen. Moen is a good valve but there is a problem with there balancing spool sticking if it is not used for long periods of time. When the spool sticks it doesn't allow hot water through it. Moen will send you a new cartridge to replace it free of charge. Delta will do the same but there valve doesn't have the problem.
