Shower Handle - Valve Shutoff Thread

So I was wondering if someone could help me. I've been searching all over the internet and haven't found anything.

So my issue is that my hot water handle seems to be "stripping" from the shut off valve. I've had to replace the valve about 4 or 5 times now because it get's to the point where I have to use a wrench to turn my hot water on, and using that enough times breaks the valve, hence having to replace it.

What I'm thinking may be the problem would be the hot water may be too hot which is cause the valve to be scorching hot, so when you go to turn the handle, the starry shaped plastic piece inside and behind the handle where the valve grips onto, it melts it! Therefore not letting you spin the handle to open the valve.

Has anyone ever encountered this problem before? Any suggestions as to what I can do to prevent having to buy new handles and valves every couple of weeks!
