Should knob and tubing be replaced?

I live in southern Indiana in a house built in 1910 with knob and tubing, I have insulated the attic without covering the wiring. I would like to put insulation in the walls with blow in insulation. I assume before a do this I need to rewire the house. Is this correct and if so how do I go about it? I'm fugal, and so would like to do some of it myself...

K&T wiring is dependent on air circulation add to that that the insulation used on this type of wiring has a tendency to dry out and degrade, I would rewire.

Upgrading the wiring is paramount.
Just think of the devices now in use, and what was around in 1910.
