Should I use a plate compactor on natural stone

Hello all,

I'm almost done installing my new patio with natural stone. I have polymetric sand to fill the joints around the stones. Since I'm using a natural stone rather than squared pavers, is it necessary to use a plate tamper to vibrate the sand down into the joints? The thickness of the stones ranges from 1" to 3" and the gap around the rocks averages about an inch. I'm most worried about cracking the thinner stone.

Thanks,

Jeff

When I lay pavers, I bromm the sand, back and forth, into place. I would imagine you could do the same with stone.

No, You'll break the stones. Brush over very dry stones, brush and brush again. In several directions.
