Should I add drywall over old pegboard?
Pearberry

Hello,
The should or should not aka best practices. Should I drywall over top of old pegboard or remove it first, then hang the drywall?

It is always best to start with a clean slate, I vote for removal of the peg board.

Add me too.

What good will it do to have the pegboard in there?

Besides, it will throw measurements like door jambs off.

"Best" would be removal and gluing the drywall as well as screwing it off.

" Thanks, I thought it was best to remove it too but someone else suggested to drywall over it. I live near the coast of Virginia and the humidity is pretty high. I was concerned the pegboard might get damp and moldy behind the drywall, if I left it up."
