Seasonal Cabin Plumbing

I am in the process of building a seasonal cabin in North Central Pennsylvania. The water will need to be drained and the cabin winterized each year. I want to have a shower that will function after the winter freeze. I tried a 1 knob style faucet, but it did not work because the plastic inside the fixture cracked. I believe it was because all of the water was not able to drain during the winterizing process. What is the best style of fixture that I should use to prevent this from happening? Would it be a 2 handle without a mixer? Should I install a blow out value on the plumbing system so I can also blow air throughout the system during winterizing? If so, where should the value be placed? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
